AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF PASCAGOULA, MISSISSIPPI, TO ESTABLISH, PROMOTE AND DEVELOP TOURISM AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THE CITY; TO GRANT THE CITY CERTAIN POWERS WITH REGARD TO TOURISM AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The City of Pascagoula, Mississippi, is authorized to establish, promote and develop tourism and economic development within the city.

SECTION 2. In order to effectuate the purposes of this act, the City of Pascagoula is authorized and empowered to:

(a) Acquire, own, lease, furnish, equip, staff and operate any and all facilities and equipment necessary and useful in the promotion of tourism and economic development;

(b) Receive funds from any source;

(c) Expend funds from the general fund and any other lawful source;

(d) Purchase, sell, lease and dispose of all real and personal property necessary and useful in exercising the authority granted in this act;

(e) Employ such personnel as is necessary and convenient to effectuate the purposes of this act; and

(f) Have and exercise all other powers necessary or convenient to effectuate the purposes of this act.

SECTION 3. Nothing in this act shall authorize the City of Pascagoula to levy any tax or charge any fee not otherwise authorized by law.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
